Bioinformatics Research Specialist
The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Bioinformatics Research Specialist as part of the Bioinformatics Shared Resource at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. The role involves leading data analysis projects focused on cancer research and collaborating with various teams to manage and present complex datasets.

Responsibilities
Oversees analytical teams in the extraction, aggregation, and quality assurance of data from multiple clinical data depositories in support of clinical research and departmental projects
Collaborates across business units, coordinates all aspects of research data collection and project oversight, and manages design and implementation of project analysis plan
Prepares documents for peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and sections of grant applications
Lead analyses of multi-dimensional clinical or genomic datasets with a strong focus on cancer research
Work with the Bioinformatics leadership of the Cancer Center and in close collaboration with faculties at the Hillman Cancer Center to oversee their high throughput omics project design, data analysis, and data presentation
Responsible for collaborative computational and informatics research projects involving methods development, novel algorithm development and/or in-depth data analysis that facilitates and integrates implementation, visualization, and database management of multi-dimensional clinical and biological datasets
Qualification
Required
Master's Degree
6 years of experience
Ability to operate PC and telephone system and to communicate with others both orally and in writing
Proficient in data analysis
Ability to collaborate with computer scientists, programmers, physicians, and laboratory scientists in cancer research
Excellent writing and presentation skills
