Responsibilities

Collect and analyze data for inclusion in project plans and reports
Assist with roadway and highway design tasks under the guidance of senior engineers
Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects using industry-standard design software packages
Perform design calculations in accordance with best engineering practices
Support traffic analysis and modeling efforts (Synchro, VISSIM)
Collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with TDOT and federal design standards
Participate in internal design reviews and contribute to innovative solutions

Required

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Transportation, Municipal, or Traffic focus preferred) from ABET-accredited University
2+ years of demonstrated experience with state or municipal DOTs (internships count toward experience)
EIT certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
Familiarity with DOT design guidelines and AASHTO standards
Strong analytical and time management skills
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills

Preferred

Proficiency with MicroStation and/or Open Roads Designer and a variety of transportation engineering analysis and design software
Experience preparing transportation design documents for public agencies
Knowledge of project delivery processes and ability to manage tasks independently
