GIS Analyst Senior
Crook County is seeking a Senior GIS Analyst to join their dynamic information technology team. The role involves leading GIS initiatives and projects, overseeing data management, conducting spatial analyses, and developing custom GIS applications to support decision-making and improve community services.

Responsibilities
Lead GIS projects from conception to completion, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables
Oversee the acquisition, organization, and maintenance of spatial datasets, ensuring data integrity and accuracy. Develop and implement data standards and protocols for GIS operations
Conduct complex spatial analyses to support planning, resource management, and decision-making processes. Utilize advanced GIS techniques to identify patterns, trends, and relationships within spatial data
Design and produce high-quality maps and visualizations for internal and public consumption. Ensure maps adhere to cartographic principles and effectively communicate spatial information
Manage GIS databases, including data storage, retrieval, and optimization. Develop and maintain spatial databases to support GIS applications and workflows
Develop custom GIS applications, tools, and scripts to automate workflows and enhance GIS capabilities. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or SQL is required
Provide technical support and training to GIS users across the organization. Assist users with GIS software usage, troubleshooting, and best practices
Establish and enforce policies, procedures, and guidelines for spatial data governance and compliance. Ensure adherence to data security and privacy regulations
Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in GIS and spatial analysis. Explore innovative approaches to GIS problem-solving and recommend strategic advancements
Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among GIS team members and stakeholders. Communicate GIS concepts and findings to non-technical audiences in a clear and accessible manner
Collaborate with the IT Director in the development and management of the IT budget
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field is required
Minimum of 4 years of experience in GIS analysis, database management, and application development, preferably in a local government or public sector environment
Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS Pro and other GIS software platforms
Strong knowledge of spatial analysis techniques, including geoprocessing, spatial statistics, and network analysis
Experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and geodatabases
Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in GIS, such as Python, JavaScript, or R
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Able to complete a thorough employment and/or criminal history check
Able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test (not required for all positions)
Final candidates will be required to provide official proof of college degree and certified transcripts (not required for all positions)
