Responsibilities

Supervising and mentoring staff attorneys, paralegals, other staff and volunteers
Performing administrative duties and working in close collaboration with other members of NMLA's management team
Managing or co-managing a practice group and carrying a caseload as sole counsel or co-counsel for low-income clients
Participating in community education and outreach to eligible clients
Recruitment and collaboration with pro bono attorneys
Creating and maintaining positive relationships with funders
Participating in strategic planning
Being active in local bar and community activities

Required

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in New Mexico
Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, including experience in civil legal services
Experience supervising or mentoring attorneys and staff
Strong commitment to serving low-income communities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively
Experience in community outreach and education
Proficiency in using legal research tools and technology

Preferred

Experience with pro bono programs
Familiarity with the legal issues facing low-income clients in New Mexico
Experience in strategic planning and program development
Active involvement in local bar associations or community organizations
