The BMV Systems Administration Intern will work with the Information Technology Division to perform application systems analysis and programming, gaining valuable experience in state government.

Responsibilities

Devise or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results to obtain maximum computer utilization

Monitor server health using existing management tools, and respond to issues as they arise

Prepare and conduct system test planning

Execute tasks conforming to shop techniques, standards, policies, and procedures

May use case tools and/or application development software tools

Monitor batch processing to ensure proper execution and performance

Monitor ticket queues including reviewing open issues, assigning priority, actioning, responding to, and resolving escalated tickets

Review and approve IT equipment requests

Assist end users with self-service options including account management

Required

Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate with an accredited post-secondary institution and have completed at least one (1) year of undergraduate education

Academic work in related field

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to analyze data sets related to discipline

Ability to build relationships, establish credibility, and influence leaders at all levels

Ability to conduct well-informed research

Ability to solve complex, critical problems

Ability to review and make recommendations on proposed changes to relevant policies and procedures
