Manager Systems Engineering 2 – Algorithm Development Optimization
Northrop Grumman is a leading aerospace and defense technology company seeking a Manager Systems Engineering 2 – Algorithm Development Optimization to join their Model Based Test & Evaluation team in Melbourne, Florida. This role involves both functional management and individual contributions, focusing on technical planning, project performance, and developing digital engineering strategies using cutting-edge technologies.

Responsibilities
Help the team understand the T&E organization's vision and principles
Build a culture that empowers and motivates individual excellence
Establish functional homeroom shared accountability for program/project performance
Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget
Perform technical planning and cost and risk analyses for total systems
Work closely with the Department Manager and fellow section managers to implement department initiatives
Ensure successful planning and execution of program test engineering activities
Collaborate with programs to satisfy staffing needs and provide operations support (incident investigations, metrics collection and analysis, etc.)
Set goals and provide regular performance feedback to employees
Support the annual salary review and promotion process
Mentor and develop the next generation of technical and project leadership
Improve and enforce test engineering processes and procedures
Developing and implementing a Digital Engineering strategy that utilizes Digital Twin technology for validating software and hardware modifications, test regression, and airworthiness verification tests
Identifying and solving complex problems to showcase high-fidelity, multi-level vehicle performance virtually

Proactively identifying and solving complex problems to showcase high-fidelity, multi-level vehicle performance virtually
Collaborating regularly with Program Management, external suppliers, and government customers

Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with 9 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with 7 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university with 4 years of relevant experience
Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance (DoD must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in model uncertainty analysis, error modeling, and error propagation
Proficiency in statistical software
Preferred
Knowledgeable in Python or MATLAB
Practical experience with Modern C++ in an Agile development environment
Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DOE) and design optimization techniques
Published work on advanced algorithms or mathematics
Master's or Ph.D. in a STEM discipline
Active Top-Secret clearance
