IT Help Desk Technician

Responsibilities

Provide timely first line of support to WACOG users in need of IT assistance; perform inquiry and diagnostics to execute solutions; escalate higher level issues to appropriate team member as needed, and follow-up to ensure issue resolution; Open/close, prioritize and manage help desk service tickets
Maintain current inventory of information technology equipment in assigned storage locations following industry standards, best practices, and safety standards
Support third-party software applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, Acrobat
Install, maintain and troubleshoot hardware and software in coordination with IT staff
Assist with research, evaluation, and recommendation of hardware and software to meet end users’ computing needs
Write and/or review/edit training documents and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Help determine the information technology goals of the organization and implement computer systems to meet those goals
Train end users (one-on-one) or in group settings as requested or necessary
Travel within WACOG service area, including overnight stays as needed; additional travel may be required
Maintain reliable and predictable attendance, work outside of standard business hours as needed
Utilize tact and discretion to maintain confidentiality of information and a positive image of WACOG
Perform other duties as necessary to carry out WACOG’s administrative/ programmatic goals and objectives

Required

High School diploma or equivalent
Education or experience gained to demonstrate ability solve IT issues in a professional work environment
Ability to make reasonable decisions based on complex and/or abstract details utilizing strong analytical and communication skills
Ability to ask the right questions to best understand the IT related issue
Ability to organize time and work area to maximize efficiency and accountability
Working knowledge of Active Directory to efficiently assist with domains, users, and objects within WACOG's networks
Working knowledge of IT infrastructure products and configurations including back-office servers and multiple operating systems, Windows OS, SQL server, Exchange
Working knowledge of virtual/cloud concepts - VMWare tools, remote access tools
Working knowledge of horizontal cabling standards, physical networking requirements, wireless access equipment
Ability to balance the needs of the organization while maintaining positive employee relations
Basic knowledge of configuration and networking (Local-Area Networks, Wide-Area Networks)
Basic knowledge of WACOG programs, goals, and clientele as well as proficient knowledge of current technology to better increase efficiency in individual programs and departments
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally (in person, email and/or phone)
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
Working knowledge of office automation products, databases
Skill in prioritizing projects with multiple needs and deadlines to achieve maximum results
Skill in analyzing complex technical data such as using logic and quantitative reasoning
Skill and ability to work independently and follow through on tasks with minimal direction

Preferred

A Degree in computer science
Certifications relevant to the position (CompTIA A+ or comparable)
