Senior Code Compliance Officer (20689606)
The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a highly motivated Senior Code Compliance Officer for their Community Development Department. This role involves leading and supporting staff in enforcing municipal code compliance, conducting inspections, and ensuring adherence to regulations.

Responsibilities
Assists in planning, organizing, prioritizing, scheduling, coordinating, supervising and evaluating the work of code compliance staff; provides technical assistance to staff as necessary
Assists in providing staff training and development; training assigned employees in their areas of work including methods, procedures, and techniques
Assists in verifying the work of assigned employees for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations; assists in ensuring adherence to safe work practices and procedures
Assists in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the section; participates in long-term planning to assess future needs
Conducts technical field inspections and investigations to determine compliance of residential, commercial and industrial buildings with zoning ordinances, conditions of zoning variance, special use, and other conditioned permits
Issues administrative citations as needed
Oversees and responds to citizens submitting concerns through MaintStar
Performs other duties as required
Qualification
Required
Three or more years of experience at a level comparable to the Code Compliance Officer II with the City of Thousand Oaks
Possession of P.O.S.T. training including PC 832 Arrest, Search and Seizure Certification
A valid class C California driver's license is required
Knowledge of operations, services, and activities of a municipal code compliance program
Knowledge of pertinent codes, ordinances, laws, and regulations pertaining to zoning, building, public nuisance, environment, health and safety, business licensing, housing, plumbing, electrical, mechanical nomenclature, and land use
Knowledge of procedures involved in the enforcement of codes and regulations including methods and techniques of conducting and documenting field investigations
Knowledge of methods, procedures and techniques used in the interpretation, application and enforcement of various zoning and subdivision ordinances, laws and standards
Knowledge of policies and procedures of City permitting process
Knowledge of methods and techniques of business correspondence and technical report preparation
Knowledge of state and federal constitutional law as it applies to the collection and preservation of evidence
Knowledge of city, county, and state departments and their functions as related to code enforcement
Knowledge of legal actions applicable to code enforcement compliance
Knowledge of principles and practices of court procedures and legal actions
Knowledge of effective public relations practices
Knowledge of principles and procedures of record keeping and maintenance
Knowledge of office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications
Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices
