Intern, Civil/Geotechnical Engineer
Haley & Aldrich is a company dedicated to addressing significant challenges in the built and natural environments. They are seeking an Intern, Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to assist with project tasks, offering hands-on field experience and the opportunity to contribute to project teams.
Responsibilities
Serve in a field support role, working on technically challenging projects on a construction site
Assist engineers and Project Managers with the planning and execution of site characterization programs on various infrastructure and real estate development projects
Assist with evaluation of subsurface geotechnical and environmental data
Assist in performing geotechnical design/analysis and developing geotechnical recommendations
Express a willingness to visit construction sites to assist in the field with our construction monitoring service group
Complete 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training where required
Demonstrate initiative and a willingness to learn
Be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills and flexibility to support multiple projects throughout the internship
Computer Skills – Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in all MS Office software
Driver’s license strongly preferred
Ability to work for 3 or more consecutive months on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 weeks preferred)
This position will require travel to job sites within the Greater Boston area and working outside of the office 95% of the time. The position may include field sampling, lifting and transporting up to 50lbs of field equipment unassisted, bending, walking on uneven ground, working on large construction/industrial sites, working in the elements (following our Health & Safety guidelines), and use of personal-protective equipment (PPE)
Qualification
Required
Candidate should be at least 2 years into their academic career
Candidate should be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate civil or geotechnical engineering program
