Responsibilities
Training new staff on systems used for coding
Being a resource for all coding staff
Ensuring the accurate coding of diagnoses and operative procedures for statistical, reimbursement, and OSHPD purposes
Abstracting and analyzing all discharged and/or outpatient surgery records
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent is required
Five (5) years of coding experience in an acute care facility using ICD-10-CM and CPT coding and/or DRG assignment is required
Knowledge and experience with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and general office practices, as well as familiarity with state and federal laws governing the release of medical information is required
RHIA, RHIT or CCS certification is required
