Senior Software Engineer, Partner Experience
Upstart is the leading AI lending marketplace partnering with banks and credit unions to expand access to affordable credit. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build partner-facing systems that improve transparency, reliability, and self-service across their capital ecosystem.

Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable APIs, services, and UIs that enable partners to access performance data, operational workflows, and program controls
Ship clear, well‑tested code; participate in code reviews; and improve reliability through logging, metrics, and alerting
Work across the stack (backend, data access, and front‑end integration) to deliver end‑to‑end capabilities with strong security and availability
Partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into simple, reliable workflows and self‑service tools that reduce manual processes
Own deployment and operational readiness in cloud environments, including CI/CD, observability, and incident mitigation
Contribute to technical design docs and help evolve our platform architecture for partner experiences over time
Qualification
Required
3-5 years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on full-stack development, distributed systems, and APIs
Experience with some or many of the following: Ruby on Rails, Kotlin, PostgreSQL, React, Next.js, Vercel, Python
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and deploying applications in a cloud native environment
Experience with microservices architecture and real-time data processing pipelines (Kafka, Spark, or similar)
Familiarity with database technologies such as SQL and data warehousing solutions
Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Preferred
Experience in capital markets, financial services, or a related industry, with a strong understanding of market structures and regulations
Prior experience or demonstrated enthusiasm for working on internal tools
History of thriving in a variety of work environments: both collaborative and self-directed; remote and in-person
Experience working with large datasets, data modeling, and building robust data pipelines
