Responsibilities
Maintain sufficient inventory of laboratory supplies to prevent work delays
Accurately process samples in a time efficient manner
Follow procedures as outlined in laboratory work instructions
Perform assigned routine laboratory tests with little to no supervision
Prepare media and solutions used within the laboratory
Participate in research trials and proficiency testing schemes under direct supervision
Enter samples and results into the laboratory data management system
Review completed testing and report results
Be willing to work weekend rotations, as necessary
Follow company policy and meet established requirements regarding biosecurity, animal welfare, safety, ISO 17025 accreditation, and drugs and alcohol
Attendance during normal working hours or assigned working schedule, as determined by Laboratory Management
Assist with training Laboratory Technician I’s with little to no supervision
Maintain good laboratory hygiene in regards to the work space, equipment, or tools utilized
Responsible for assisting in the monitoring of the quality of work performed as well as the quality of the product produced within the laboratory
May perform other duties as required by Laboratory Management
Qualification
Required
Process and analyze samples collected from production sites with little to no supervision
Ensure that all programs and procedures are followed and implemented as described by company guidelines
Display attention to detail and a desire to produce quality work
Maintain a high degree of quality while working efficiently and cost effectively
Maintain sufficient inventory of laboratory supplies to prevent work delays
Accurately process samples in a time efficient manner
Follow procedures as outlined in laboratory work instructions
Perform assigned routine laboratory tests with little to no supervision
Prepare media and solutions used within the laboratory

Walk/stand for extended periods of time
Move safely over/traverse uneven terrain
Frequently carry/lift objects and equipment weighing up to 20lbs
Perform repetitive tasks that require hand/wrist dexterity
Safely pick up materials stored at ground level
Apply 50 lbs. of force to push carts
Frequently kneel/squat
Perform tasks squatting at floor level or on knees
Conduct repetitive tasks
Wear work-required PPE for identified tasks, such as safety glasses, work gloves, work shoes, etc
Be exposed at times to airborne particles, such as dust and dander
Be exposed to chemicals, such as detergents, disinfectants, and vaccines
Conduct work inside year round and may require work outside
Be exposed to very hot and cold temperatures
Be exposed to farm related smells and foul odors
