TEMPORARY Seasonal Employee - Chatfield State Park.
The State of Colorado is seeking temporary seasonal employees for various positions at Chatfield State Park. The roles involve responsibilities such as visitor service, maintenance, and environmental education, contributing to the park's mission of providing enjoyable outdoor recreation opportunities.

Responsibilities
Oversee revenue generated on the park through entrance gates, self-service pay stations, park headquarters, campground registration office, and shower facilities
Understands and follows park regulations, policies and procedures
Help supervise and train Visitor Service Technicians and monitor performance
Assist Entrance Gate Attendants with selling park passes on high visitation days
Assist Revenue Section Manager with change fund confirmation and park pass audits
Manage inventory of all revenue related products at various locations around park
Prepare shift box change funds and park pass inventories
Investigate shift box overages and shortages
Assist revenue supervisor with weekly and monthly revenue reports
Organize, file, and mail financial related documents
Assist in maintenance and troubleshooting of Self Service Kiosks
Ensure deposit of all revenue collected and perform weekly deposit verification
May assist with special events or programs within the park and promote educational programs
May encounter situations that will require effective communication to park staff over radio
May document and report visitor complaints
May be required to work the entrance station for an 8 hour shift and take lunch in the station
General cleaning and maintenance of facilities
Ability to work with limited supervision and work well within a team
Other duties as assigned
Conduct physical boat inspections and boater interviews
Conduct thorough decontamination of watercraft which may involve climbing in and underneath watercraft
Provide information and assistance to visitors (distributes brochures, promotes ANS education, etc.)
General cleaning and maintenance of facilities
Accurate counting and recording of all boat inspections, either written or by phone application software
May document and report visitor complaints
Must attend and successfully complete mandatory state ANS training
May encounter situations that will require effective communication to park staff over radio
Ability to work with limited supervision and work well within a team
May assist with special events or programs within the park
Must be willing and able to climb in and out of vessels and under trailers
Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly during the course of a workday
Other duties as assigned
Patrol boat operation
Provide assistance to visitors on the reservoir (distribute maps/ brochures, orient visitors to park facilities and amenities, educate visitors park regulations, boat tows, etc.)
Will encounter situations that will require effective communication to park staff via radio
May document and report visitor complaints
Assist with boating incidents
General maintenance and cleaning of patrol boat fleet
General maintenance and cleaning of facilities
May assist with special events or programs within the park
Must attend and successfully complete Basic Marine Operator Training
Ability to work with limited supervision and work well within a team
Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly during the course of a workday
Other duties as assigned
Operate and maintain state owned vehicles
Assure quality customer service and facility maintenance, repair and cleanliness
Occasionally provide information and assistance to visitors
May assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work and transporting materials and supplies
Operate power tools and hand tools
Operate small engine equipment
Ability to work with limited supervision and work well within a team
Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly during the course of a workday

Sell daily and annual parks passes
Answer radio calls and give information to staff via radio
Operate a cash register and point of sale application
Collects revenue and balances shift box at end of each shift
May document and report visitor complaints
Cleaning and light maintenance duties of interior and exterior of entrance stations
May assist with special events or programs within the park
Ability to work with limited supervision and work well within a team

Schedule, plan and present Junior Ranger programs
Schedule, plan and present school and group programs
Schedule, plan and present campfire programs and guided hikes
Schedule, plan and present outreach programs
Provide roving interpretation in campgrounds and day use areas
Work with individual and group volunteers
May train volunteer ambassadors
Work with other State, Federal and local agency naturalists
Market and promote attendance at programs
May develop brochures and other written materials
May assist with special events or programs within the park
May document and report visitor complaints
Collect, catalog, organize and protect park collections of slides, photographs, specimens, etc
Attend assigned training sessions
Other duties as assigned

Sell campground permits, boat registrations, OHV/snowmobile registrations
Sell parks passes, permits, books, maps, clothing, firewood and other novelties
Sell fishing and hunting licenses
Answer radio calls and give information to staff via radio
Operate a cash register and a point of sale system
Answer telephones and transfer/take messages
Collect revenue and balance shift box at end of each shift
Prepare campground reservations forms and documents
May document and report visitor complaints
Photocopying and filing documents
Cleaning and light maintenance duties of interior and exterior of facilities
May assist with special events or programs within the park
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must be 16 years of age or older
Must have a current & valid drivers' license or reliable transportation OR Must have a current & valid driver's license required for operating a state vehicle
The work-site will provide some uniform items, however the employee may be required to purchase limited uniform items at their own expense
Applicants are subject to successful completion of a comprehensive background check
Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Must be available to work varied shifts
Possess strong interpersonal communication skills to deliver excellent customer service
Preferred
Preference may be given to applicants with or working towards a Natural Resources degree or similar education
Basic computer skills preferred (MS Office Suite, Google App Suite)
