Responsibilities

Perform structural design and analysis of bridges, culverts, and related transportation structures
Deliver creative, practical solutions that meet DOT and AASHTO standards
Prepare construction plans and models using OpenBridge Designer and associated software
Prepare technical reports, specifications and cost estimates for transportation structures
Conduct bridge assessments, load ratings, and rehabilitation investigations
Work directly with DOT clients and project teams to meet deadlines and exceed expectations
Coordinate with internal teams, subconsultants, and DOT representatives to ensure project requirements are met
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers

Qualification

Structural bridge designProfessional Engineer (PE) licenseAASHTO LRFD specificationsOpenBridge DesignerProject managementCommunication skillsProblem-solving skillsOrganizational skills

Required

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) required, Master's degree a plus
Minimum of 5 years of relevant structural bridge design experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain quickly)
Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and related codes
Proficiency with structural analysis and design software (OpenBridge Designer, RC Pier, STAAD, MicroStation or other commercial bridge design software)
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Strong organizational and project management abilities

Preferred

Experience working with NC Department of Transportation standards and processes
