Outreach, Engagement and Communications Intern
AARP is the nation's largest nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering people 50 and older. The Outreach, Engagement and Communications Intern will collaborate with AARP Nevada staff to engage the community through various outreach, communications, and volunteer management activities.

Responsibilities
Apply strategic and creative thinking to help develop, implement, and promote activities and programs in areas such as family caregiving, health and welfare, voter engagement, and retirement security
Participate in activities and events both virtually and in person to inform and engage the community
Work to increase multicultural outreach in our Asian, Black, Hispanic/Latino, and LGBTQIA communities
Engage AARP members, elected officials and candidates, and community partners in efforts to inform voters about election processes and voting options, candidate positions, and the importance of making their voices heard
Assist with volunteer engagement and management to provide meaningful opportunities and experiences
Engage in the communications strategies to advance these issues, as well as the events organized as part of these efforts
Research policy and community issues, outreach targets, and community partners; draft documents to support our advocacy and outreach efforts; and participate in team meetings and strategy discussions
Qualification
Required
Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university, rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students, and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship, or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program
Must be a self-starter with the ability to work under tight deadlines
Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities
Productive in a flexible work environment (in office, telecommuting, and/or in the community)
Able to work closely with volunteer groups
Willingness to be non-partisan in all work activities, both in the office and the community
Willingness to learn AARP priority initiatives fraud prevention, caregiving, financial security, health, voter engagement, etc
Ability to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race, and sexual orientation
Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Zoom, and learn internal programs
Exceptional verbal/written communication skills
Preferred
Familiarity with creating and editing videos and knowledge of multiple social media platforms is a plus
