Electrical Design Technician - Automotive Industry

The Electrical Design Technician is responsible for researching, designing, developing, testing, and troubleshooting motor vehicle electrical systems and components, ensuring safe and efficient functionality.

Responsibilities

Designs and Analyzes electrical systems and components for motor vehicles
Shop support on electrical systems and components for motor vehicles
Designs and documents electrical systems for add-on vehicle components (i.e., multi-plex, plug and play, etc.)
Designs and manages power distribution systems for a variety of OEM vehicle offerings
Creates as-built electrical manuals and schematics
Analyzes and interprets design specifications and technical drawings
Inspects, Performs electrical tests for automotive systems, identifies faults and implements corrective actions and solutions
Prepares material, cost, and timing estimates, reports, and design specifications
Maintain vendor relation
Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform design and engineering tasks
Works with Engineering colleagues to design new systems, circuits, devices, and/or develops existing technology
Inspects installations and observes operations to ensure compliance with design and equipment specifications, vehicle electrical codes, and safety standards
Keeps up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends
Documents all project design and development work for future reference
Communicates effectively with team members, other departments, and customers

Required

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant field
Proven work experience in Automotive Electrical Engineering capacity, including production support
Ability to identify and troubleshoot electrical faults and complex electrical issues
Proficiency in using electrical diagnostic tools to identify and rectify faults in automotive electrical systems
Proficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software to create electrical system designs and schematics

Preferred

Five (5) or more years of Automotive Electrical Engineering experience
Project management skills to oversee the successful completion of automotive electrical projects from conceptualization to implementation
Bilingual: English/Spanish
