Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the control of personnel exposure to ionizing radiation, protection against radioactive contamination, and protection of the general public against radiation associated with naval nuclear power plants
You will assure the proper control of radioactive material
You will exercise and apply broad technical knowledge to assure compliance with shipyard monitoring/control requirements
You will ensure compliance with appropriate regulations regarding security precautions
You will be responsible for administrative and technical managing of the subordinate work units responsible for the review of overall work operations
You will resolve and analyze technical problems and areas beyond the capacity of subordinates

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in the use of a full range of radiological control instrumentation and survey techniques in use within the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program to include preparing comprehensive technical reports
Experience applying all necessary requirements to provide on-scene radiological control responses for actual or potential radiological emergencies, casualties, training exercises, and proficiency drills on or off site
Experience preventing and controlling radiological incidents and unusual events during complex operations
Experience evaluating technical work instruments, assure control of radioactive material, and radioactivity to properly control personnel exposure
Experience completing causal analysis of radiological incidents and unusual events to provide problem resolution
Experience supervising subordinates, coordinating workloads, administering personnel, equipment, evaluating workload, and developing procedures
Experience applying quantitative measurement and health physics techniques to conduct a comprehensive assessment of potential
Must be willing to obtain and maintain Radiological Health Qualifications per Article 108 of NAVSEA 389-0288
