Senior/Staff Full-Stack Engineer

The Senior/Staff Full-Stack Engineer will own the architecture, design, development, and operations of server-side logic, databases, and APIs, while collaborating closely with product, clinical, and design teams to deliver scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

Own the architecture, design, development and operations of server-side logic, databases, APIs, and other backend processes to handle heterogeneous sources of healthcare data at scale
Collaborate closely with product, clinical and design teams to translate product and design requirements into production
Prototype, optimize, and maintain scalable back-end services that will power new ML and LLM model powered development workflows
Develop responsive and user-friendly web interfaces that integrate with server-side logic and APIs
Optimize web applications for performance, speed, and scalability, ensuring fast load times and smooth user interactions. Write clean, well-structured, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards. Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and collaborate with team members to improve code quality and maintainability
Design extensible and testable interfaces between internal services including the underlying storage and data models
Be an engaged team player in a customer-focused cross-functional environment where you will feel excited to take on whatever is most impactful for the company and product
Have the ability to work in San Mateo 3-4 days a week

Qualification

Required

Proficiency in Python, and extensive experience in API design and development (FastAPI), database technologies (e.g., Postgres, MySQL, noSQL) and CI/CD
Experience in frontend development, with proficiency in React.js/Typescript
Solid understanding of responsive web design principles and best practices
Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Strong understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
Experience in delivering distributed and ML systems and services in a production setting for cloud-native applications
Experience with distributed compute frameworks and data processing pipelines
Ability to design and build efficient scalable data storage, compute, and retrieval systems for AI/ML tasks
Have the ability to work in San Mateo 3-4 days a week

Preferred

Preferably having experience working with ML systems and foundation models (e.g. large language models) and enterprise software products for machine learning and/or data science applications
Located in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate
