New Grad, Entry LevelCatawba Valley Engineering & Testing is looking for motivated, detail-oriented individuals to join their team as Engineering Field Technicians. This role involves ensuring construction quality and compliance on active job sites through various testing and inspection responsibilities.
Construction
Responsibilities
Performing field testing, sampling, observations, and inspections of construction materials
Conducting Construction Materials Testing (CMT) on concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate, structural steel, fireproofing, and more
Completing mathematical calculations, test data reduction, and preparing accurate field and laboratory documentation
Communicating daily with contractors, project managers, engineers, and CVET staff
Representing CVET professionally while supporting safe, high-quality construction practices
Qualification
Required
A high school diploma or GED (BSCE or EI candidates are also encouraged to apply)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to perform basic math and follow detailed testing procedures
A willingness to work in varying weather conditions
Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs (mostly team lifts due to weight/shape)
Availability for variable hours and overtime when needed
Age 21+ with a clean driving record (required to operate a company vehicle)
Preferred
Prior CMT/Special Inspections experience or certifications are a plus
