OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST-DIRECT HIRING AUTHORITY
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center is seeking an Operations Research Analyst who will perform professional and scientific work involving the design, development, and adaptation of mathematical and statistical methods for various weapons systems. The role requires expertise in operations research analysis, including the development of mathematical models and providing technical guidance on complex studies.

Responsibilities
Performs a broad range of operations research analysis assignments, entailing unique problems, creativity, innovative use of techniques, advanced approaches, and/or new technologies. Performs studies of issues arising in varied subjects of advanced difficulty and complexity. Establishes assumptions, measures effectiveness of approaches, and evaluates available alternatives
Utilizes scientific inquiry in the independent development of mathematical models and computer programs to evaluate and predict the ability to support assigned projects, studies, or problems. Serves as an expert on modeling and simulation techniques. Develops models to test, analyze, and evaluate algorithms and other logic
Provides technical guidance, advisory support, and assistance on an entire project and/or major phases for broad and varied operations. Performs very complex, difficult studies/evaluations on an individual basis or as a team member/leader responsible for completing phases of an overall work effort
Attends meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to program planning, advanced technologies, and support system concepts. Interfaces with headquarters and other technical/analytical agencies on advances in state-of-the-art technology
Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency through professional interaction with technical and professional societies, associations, academia, symposia, contractors, research and development (R&D) organizations, and participation in formal training programs

Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft

Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
Shift work and emergency overtime may be required

This is a Financial Management Level 2 Certified position in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, Section 1599d
Incumbent shall comply with the requirements
Degree in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics
At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus
Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems
Specialized experience is experience in applying advanced mathematical and statistical techniques to perform a broad range of operations research analysis assignments
Knowledge of a broad range of operations research analysis techniques and possession of analytical abilities
Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions
Skill to negotiate and/or defend findings and program support concepts
Ability to lead study teams and originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; and execute projects and/or studies within established financial and/or time constraints
Ability to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques, and design, build, and use models and simulation techniques
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relations
