Supervisory General Engineer (Project Manager)

Responsibilities
Serves as a Branch Supervisor within CMD, responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing activities of the specific branch
Provides technical and administrative supervision to subordinate staff, including assigning work, setting long term and short term priorities and evaluating performance
Evaluates requirements for additional resources, and balances branch needs with overall mission requirements. Identifies need for change in organization priorities and takes action to implement such changes
Directs, coordinates, and oversees the work of subordinates. Advises staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of the CMD Director. Selects candidates for subordinate positions taking into consideration skills, qualifications, and mission requirements
Supports and facilitates the planning, scope development, design, construction and project direction. Monitors projects from cradle to grave, design to final project turnover
Establishes review systems for the organization that make certain government needs are met and validated
Engages in discussions with senior management on a wide range of complex issues

The position requires a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute or an approved equivalent certification at the point of entry and maintained while on duty in the position

The incumbent may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime
This position requires incumbent to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and annually thereafter
I have an Engineering degree from a program that: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics
I have a combination of college-level education, training and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background was obtained by a Professional registration or licensure - Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineers in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (E) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico
I have a combination of college-level education, training and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background was obtained by a Written Test - Evidence of having successfully passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for a professional registration by an engineer licensure board in the various States, District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico
I have a combination of college-level education, training and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background was obtained by successful completion of 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under item A above
I have a combination of college-level education, training and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background was obtained by successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the you have had at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance
I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) which has given me the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties related to the position being filled. Specialized experience is defined as: developing plans, engineering specifications, cost estimates, and procurement packages in support of the operation, preventive maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, Civil, Structural, and/or utility and mission critical systems and equipment
