Motor Vehicle Operator Leader

Responsibilities

Operate a variety of motor vehicles and equipment to prevent damage and corrosion of parts
Ensure needed plans, material and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations
Utilize forklift trucks to load heavy equipment on to trailers
Assign tasks to crewmembers based on knowledge, skill, and abilities
Answer questions from workers about tasks to be performed
Pass instructions from supervisor onto subordinates
Recognize hazardous conditions while driving to avoid damage or injury
Assure safety and housekeeping rules for operating vehicles and equipment are followed
Demonstrate proper dispatching procedures, preventive maintenance checks and services, and document deficiencies
Determine size of truck and trailer required to safely carry the equipment to be moved
Select proper tools and interpret information in appropriate manuals/regulations to perform maintenance checks on vehicles
Instruct and assist lower graded operators in the more difficult and complex tasks
Check work in progress for compliance with instructions
Provide information to supervisor on status and progress of work
Answer workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives

This position requires membership in the US Army Reserve (USAR)
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation
This position requires a Personnel Security Investigation
This position requires a Class A CDL within 180 days of employment
This position requires a medical examination prior to employment
This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements
Ability to Lead
Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) and Ability to Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle)
Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation)
Ability To Lead or Supervise

Benefits

$24,000 recruitment bonus to individuals who are newly appointed as civilians in the Federal Government.
New Army Reserve Military Technicians may be authorized moving expenses to their first official duty station.
