SENIOR ACCOUNTANT GRANTS

Responsibilities
Individual should have a strong understanding of accounting theory. This includes, but not limited to: T
Thorough knowledge of the P&L and Balance Sheet, as well as the impact of journal entries to all financial statements
Individual should have strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management
Individual will be required to guide staff accountants when necessary and in the absence of manager
Under moderate supervision, performs full performance professional level accounting work, processes financial transactions, prepares financial records, reports and invoices; and guides management through financial decision making to ensure compliance with fiscal rules and polices in accordance with using grant guidelines, including GAAP, GASB, FASB accounting regulations, and 2 CFR 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (Uniform Guidance)
Qualification
Required
Strong understanding of accounting theory
Thorough knowledge of the P&L and Balance Sheet
Impact of journal entries to all financial statements
Strong analytical skills
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management
Guide staff accountants when necessary and in the absence of manager
Perform full performance professional level accounting work
Process financial transactions
Prepare financial records, reports and invoices
Guide management through financial decision making
Ensure compliance with fiscal rules and policies in accordance with grant guidelines
Knowledge of GAAP, GASB, FASB accounting regulations
Knowledge of 2 CFR 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards
Minimum 4 years of experience in general or grant accounting fields
Experience in sponsored project (post-award) administration
Professional level accounting experience reconciling accounting discrepancies
Analyzing expenditures and preparing financial reports
Experience with account analysis, balance sheet review, journal posting, bank reconciliations
Intermediate level spreadsheet skills
Experience with ERP/GL financial reporting software
Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) in accounting, finance or business administration
At least four years accounting experience
Ability to cover Manager's responsibilities during PTO
Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
Ability to handle confidential information with a high degree of professionalism
Ability to train and guide staff level accountants
Ability to work overtime when necessary to meet established deadlines
