Architectural Barrier Testing Specialist

Responsibilities

Conduct field inspections and assessments of USACE facilities to identify architectural barriers to accessibility
Evaluate site and building elements such as parking, entrances, doorways, restrooms, signage, and paths of travel for compliance with ABA, UFAS, ADA, and other applicable federal and DoD standards
Document findings with accurate field notes, photographs, measurements, and detailed reports
Use specialized tools (e.g., digital levels, slope meters, measuring devices) to verify compliance with accessibility requirements
Prepare written reports outlining deficiencies, non-compliant elements, and recommended corrective actions
Communicate effectively with design teams, facility managers, and USACE representatives to clarify findings and support mitigation planning
Participate in project meetings and provide expert guidance on accessibility improvements
Maintain a strong working knowledge of current accessibility codes, USACE policies, and federal building requirements

Required

Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen
Strong knowledge of construction practices, materials, and technical specifications
Ability to work independently in the field and in varied weather conditions
CASp, ICC Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner certification, or similar accessibility credential
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and digital inspection/reporting tools
Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and reporting skills

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
Experience with Federal Projects, particularly US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)
Experience in facility inspection, accessibility assessment, or building code compliance
Experience using Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software
