Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of high-performance electronic systems for mission-critical applications

Drive the design and development of printed circuit boards (PCBs) for complex digital systems

Develop and implement FPGA-based solutions for high-speed data acquisition and control

Design and implement timing systems to ensure precise synchronization across distributed systems

Develop equipment protection systems to safeguard critical infrastructure

Manage relationships with subcontractors, including technical oversight, scheduling, and quality assurance

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including physicists, software engineers, and operations staff

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering team members

Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets for electronic systems projects

Required

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field

Minimum 4 years of professional experience in electronic systems engineering

Proven experience with digital circuit design and PCB development

Strong background in FPGA programming (VHDL/Verilog)

Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors and external vendors

Strong understanding of timing systems and synchronization techniques

Knowledge of equipment protection systems and interlock design

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

US citizenship or permanent residence is required

Preferred

Experience with distributed control systems for particle accelerators or similar large-scale scientific instruments such as EPICS (Experimental Physics Industrial Control System) or equivalent

Project management experience or PMP certification

Master's degree or Ph.D. in relevant field

Experience with real-time operating systems and embedded programming

Familiarity with physics instrumentation and detector systems
