Entry, Mid LevelDatasent is building the infrastructure layer for a privacy-first data economy. They are seeking a junior-to-mid-career Backend Engineer to design and implement backend services and build data processing and ML pipelines in a hands-on role with meaningful ownership.

Responsibilities
Design and implement backend services in Python, Rust, or similar low-level languages
Build and maintain data processing and ML pipelines
Develop and deploy containerized applications using Docker
Work with SQL (Postgres or equivalent) and/or NoSQL (MongoDB) databases
Support B2B client implementations, including requirement assessment and customization
Collaborate closely with product, operations, and leadership in a remote-first, small-team environment
Improve reliability, observability, and deployment workflows as the platform scales
Qualification
Required
Proficiency in Python or Rust (or another systems-oriented language)
Experience with PostgreSQL or other SQL databases, and/or MongoDB
Familiarity with common ML and data science libraries, such as: NumPy, Pandas or Polars, Scikit-Learn, OpenCV (or similar)
Experience building and deploying applications using Docker or container technologies
Exposure to B2B software development, including working with real client requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working on a small, remote team with direct ownership and responsibility
Preferred
Experience with implementation-heavy client engagements
Ability to turn bespoke client solutions into reusable frameworks or internal tools
Background in cryptography-adjacent or security-minded systems
Experience with AWS, especially: ECS / EKS, S3, RDS
Exposure to embedded or edge computing, including ARM or RISC-V
