Payroll Operations Analyst

TalentPartners is seeking a Payroll Operations Analyst to oversee end-to-end payroll operations across approximately 65 retail store locations. This role focuses on payroll execution, workforce management coordination, compliance, and process improvement, acting as a liaison between corporate payroll functions and store leadership.

Responsibilities

Own payroll operations across all retail locations, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll execution
Serve as the primary point of accountability for payroll readiness, validation, and issue resolution
Partner with payroll processing teams or vendors, without performing direct payroll processing
Support workforce management processes including timekeeping, scheduling alignment, and labor rules
Ensure store schedules, punches, and labor data are accurate prior to payroll close
Identify trends or issues related to overtime, exceptions, and labor compliance
Act as the main payroll operations contact for store managers and regional leadership
Communicate payroll timelines, cutoffs, and requirements clearly and consistently
Resolve store-level payroll issues, discrepancies, and escalations in a timely manner
Ensure payroll practices comply with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations
Monitor compliance related to overtime, meal breaks, pay premiums, and union or policy rules if applicable
Support internal audits, documentation, and payroll controls
Review payroll summaries, exception reports, and variance trends
Identify recurring issues and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions
Provide insights to leadership related to payroll accuracy, labor trends, and risk areas
Partner closely with HR, Finance, Store Operations, and IT to ensure data integrity and process alignment
Support system updates, enhancements, or implementations related to payroll or timekeeping
Assist with process improvements to scale payroll operations as the business grows

Required

Experience in payroll operations within a retail environment, preferably multi-location grocery or big-box retail
Strong understanding of payroll workflows, timekeeping, and workforce management systems
Proven experience supporting payroll compliance and operational controls
Bilingual in English and Spanish, required
Ability to communicate effectively with store leaders and corporate partners
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment
This role is not a payroll processor and does not involve running payroll transactions
