Responsibilities

Develop and implement a long-term strategy for managing physical and digital geologic collections for the Missouri Geological Survey
Oversee the entire lifecycle of data assets, from initial submission to publication, ensuring all data are up-to-date, accurate, findable, and accessible
Work cooperatively with Office of Administration Information Technology Services Division team members to use GIS expertise and geologic knowledge to manage, curate, and update datasets
Support data preservation projects funded by the state and U.S. Geological Survey program by assisting with writing proposals, managing budgets, and collaborating with a team in locating, interpreting, and compiling geologic data. Independently ensure data quality and timely delivery
Ensure long-term access to Missouri Geological Survey knowledge by archiving published reports, maps, and data, organizing folders, purging unnecessary files, and maintain a clean inventory of historical records

Required

Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience. (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)
Knowledge of the uses of database management systems and software to control the organization, storage, retrieval, security and integrity of data
Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance
Make well-informed, effective, and timely decisions, even when data are limited, or solutions produce unpleasant consequences; perceives the impact and implications of decisions
Knowledge of the concepts, practices, and techniques used to identify, engage, influence, and monitor relationships with individuals and groups connected to a work effort; including those actively involved, those who exert influence over the process and its results, and those who have a vested interest in the outcome (positive or negative)
