Project Engineer (Civil - Forensics)

As a Project Engineer, you will manage forensic engineering assignments, perform assessments, and provide reports for various clients while overseeing project execution and ensuring compliance with standards.

Responsibilities
Technical project execution, including applying sound engineering judgment and a deep understanding of governing codes, design guidelines, and industry practices; collaborating with interdisciplinary project teams across m2e as the civil engineering subject-matter expert (SME); leveraging your expertise for a variety of civil/structural projects, including the investigation, design, analysis, repair, and renovation of new and existing structures, construction materials, loading conditions, and construction types; preparing technically excellent client deliverables; providing high-quality reviews and oversight of work by others; and performing and training others in hands-on field work
Project management, including client development, project scoping, assembling and managing appropriate project teams, maintaining project schedules and budgets, and managing client expectations and deliverables
Contributions to civil infrastructure practice and company-wide objectives, including collaborating with other m2e colleagues for in-house knowledge-sharing and training initiatives; and engaging in meaningful involvement in industry-related professional organizations, conferences, and technical committees
Plans and execute multiple forensic investigation projects simultaneously, tracking and delivering them on time and within budget
Leads group of project engineers, engineering consultants and technicians, exercising considerable independence in decision making process
In some instances, act as the Engineer of Record in the preparation of construction plans, design improvement, specifications and timetable activities, and overall construction of projects. Most of the time, the design is for repairs or restoration
Oversees, directs, and executes the acquisition of field data in a systematic or organized manner for analysis
Develops and recommends standard operating procedures and performance standards utilized by the team
Monitors operations and activities in the field to help assure standard operating procedures are followed and performance standards are met
Reviews project documentation and reports prepared by staff for accuracy and completeness
Handles requests for information, service or complaints or makes referrals to appropriate staff in a timely and concerned manner that reflects an effort to resolve any arising issues while at the same time acting responsibly on behalf of m2e
Models and strictly adheres to m2e standards, policies, and project schedules
Informs, in a timely manner, Department Head regarding any conflicts/issues that relate to his/her work
Develops and writes effective reports with all necessary backup material for external consumption
Develops and effectively delivers presentations to critical/high level customers
Responsible for budgets, proposal preparation, bid implementation, manpower estimates (immediate and long-range), and ensuring on-time delivery of projects
Drives team development making learning a required assignment for all employees
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's/Master's degree in engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, or documented combination of education and professional experience in related engineering field
Active Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) license via examination or active registration in another state with the ability to reciprocate to Florida within six months of beginning employment
Valid State of Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation required
5+ years of pre-or-post degree work experience, which must have involved construction, design, inspection or estimating, and budgeting
Demonstrated project management experience in the field
Demonstrated testimony experience
Storm & Water drainage knowledge
English proficiency: Fluent (Speak, read, understand, interpret content and write)
Knowledgeable in all technical areas of design, construction and management, or having a demonstrated ability to achieve that level of proficiency in a short period of time
Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly in dealing with manpower and budgets
Strong presentation skills
Effectively mentors, trains and develops people within and/or outside his/her work group/team
Creative problem solving
Ability to sit with back at a 90-degree angle for up to 8 hours per day
Ability to look at a computer for up to 8 hours per day
Ability to stand upright for up to 8 hours per day
Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas (uneven terrain, exposure to outdoor weather elements)
Bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, laying, crawling, and twisting required up to 30% of the time in this role
Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds at times
Must be able to use right and left foot for repetitive movements as in operating controls or levers
Full dexterity of wrists and fingers required with repetitive motions
Must be able to see near, in the distance, color, depth, and range
Safety equipment, including but not limited to hard hat, OSHA approved footwear, safety glasses and safety vests, is always required while performing job functions on active construction sites
Preferred
Valid contractor license (building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing) preferred
Additional preferred certifications: OSHA 10, Swing Stage, FDOT
4+ years of forensic engineering preferred
