The Senior Staff Accountant (GL) will be responsible for general ledger accountability, financial reporting, and assisting in various accounting projects, ensuring compliance with accounting procedures.

Responsibilities

Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for period end close
Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures; maintain necessary working papers related to journal entries and reconciliations
Correspond with various departments to compile financial data for monthly reporting as needed to ensure accurate and timely period end reporting
Assist in the preparation and distribution of financial statements
Research and respond to all general ledger questions/inquiries
Assist in providing follow up and documentation of significant variance
Assist with quarterly and annual financial audits as needed
Assist with the annual corporate budgeting process
Contribute to department and/or company special project as assigned
Coach and train staff as necessary

Required

Bachelors degree in Accounting a must
3-5 years progressively responsible experience in accounting
Thorough understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP)
Strong analytical and accounting skills
Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
Extremely attentive to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and/or with a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty
Ability to work with minimal up front guidance and take ownership of his/her work
Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
Ability to proactively resolve or escalate issues across functions and follow up as necessary
Strong problem solving and organizational skills
Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook or similar programs

Preferred

Multi unit experience strongly preferred
Solomon and FAS experience a plus
