Assistant Engineer Vessel Offshore

Responsibilities
Safe operation and routine maintenance of the vessel’s propulsion, auxiliary and other mechanical systems in compliance with the applicable laws and regulations of the vessel’s flag, the international community, Company policies and procedures, and the manufacturer’s recommendations in a manner responsible to the safety of the crew
Under the direct and active supervision of a licensed officer, loading and storing of bunkers, lubricating oils, and transferring of bunkers and oils to the tow or other vessels, and storage and management of bilge and bilge slops in accordance with Company procedures and in a manner responsible to the safety of the crew and the protection other natural environment
Responsible care and use of the vessel’s consumable spares, mechanical stores, and tools inventories
Stand engine room watches in rotation with other members in the vessel crew
Complete appropriate engine room operational and maintenance tasks as directed by the Chief Engineer
Qualification
Required
Possess an U.S. Merchant Mariner's document and a STCW training and certification booklet, as required by law
Possess the proper certification by the U.S.C.G. for the type, horsepower and service of the vessel to which he/she is assigned
Ability to read and communicate in English
Ability to render, understand and react to commands given in English
Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record
Preferred
Ability to read and write in Spanish is preferred but is not a required
