Responsibilities
Assist in developing injection molds, fixtures, and assembly tools to support plastic manufacturing operations
Review part designs and customer requirements to determine tooling concepts, materials, and processing needs
Use 3D CAD software to create accurate, detailed models and drawings for mold and tool fabrication
Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure mold performance, reliability, and manufacturability
Estimate tooling costs, material requirements, and project timelines for new and modified tools
Lead efforts to improve tooling design for cycle time reduction, part quality, and mold longevity
Support automation initiatives to modernize molding and assembly processes
Oversee tooling suppliers, quotes, and procurement to ensure cost-effective, high-quality deliverables
Evaluate and implement material and design improvements to enhance tool performance and reduce maintenance
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related field
10+ years of experience in tooling or mold design for plastic injection molding operations
Proficiency in CAD modeling and technical drawing for mold and tool fabrication
Strong understanding of mold construction, cooling design, gating, and ejection systems
Proven success leading tooling projects from concept through validation and production launch
