Instructor, Heating & Air Conditioning Engineering Technology
The College of Lake County (CLC) is seeking an Instructor of Heating & Air Conditioning Engineering Technology for the instruction of first and second-year college-level courses to a diverse student body. The role involves developing curriculum, teaching courses, providing student support, and participating in assessment of student learning outcomes.

Responsibilities
Selects, prepares, maintains, and updates current curriculum, course outlines and printed and non-printed instructional materials
Provides students and the academic division a syllabus that clearly states course objectives and learning outcomes, attendance policies in line with those of the College, texts and readings, timelines and evaluation criteria, and any other information required by College, academic division, or department
Meets all classes at assigned times. If unable to meet an assigned class, reports absence to supervisor and academic division staff in an appropriate manner
Teaches assigned courses in subject field each academic semester to meet the needs of students, the department and the community. Delivers course content using a variety of teaching styles at various times and campus locations
Provides instructional support to the students. Assists in student advisement and refers students, when appropriate, to sources of specialized services within the College. Is available for student consultation through phone, email or appropriately established office hours (in-person or online)
Participates in developing and administering department and college-wide assessment of student learning. Uses departmental testing instruments as provided and administers other instruments designed to measure student learning outcomes as requested and required by the department, academic division or College. Provides all results as requested
Evaluates student performance in meeting course objectives and learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, or examinations. Provides feedback to students in a timely manner on student performance
Maintains accurate grade records as required by the College. Submits all attendance and grade records electronically prior to the required deadlines. Produces appropriate grade records for supervisor upon request
Uses the appropriate College policies and procedures to resolve and document student complaints, concerns and problems
Encourages students to submit course evaluations, reviews course evaluations when available and uses feedback to improve course delivery
Participates, when appropriate, in the formation and meetings of career program advisory committees, governance groups, College, academic division, and department committees
Attends faculty meetings, department meetings and all other meetings called by authorized personnel
Attends Opening Week activities and Commencement
Is ethical in all conduct and maintains a high level of professionalism
Consistently completes all mandated compliance trainings
Properly and effectively utilizes appropriate technology such as Navigate, Canvas, and Zoom to deliver instructional materials, maintain grades, and provide timely communications with students, etc
Maintains current knowledge of subject matter via professional development such as professional organization membership, attendance of seminars, conferences and classes, and professional publications
Follows all institutional and regulatory policies, procedures and standards. Utilizes self-assessment to determine progress in meeting performance objectives and career goals
Actively supports the College and academic division through ongoing service and engagement
Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean or Associate Dean
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree or higher in HVAC/R Technology or a closely related field AND min. 2 years
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis, and over 50 lbs. on an occasional basis with or without reasonable accommodations. Continuously walking or standing, frequent bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, and twisting and occasionally sitting
Preferred
Prior college-level teaching experience
Demonstrated professional learning or certification in evidence-based student-focused pedagogical teaching and assessment practice such as ACUE, workshops and data use
Advanced HVAC/R skills
HVAC/R commercial experience
