Responsibilities

Assists physician or APN before, during and after clinic visit through organization of procedure/exam room and supplies, preparing patient, anticipating technical needs, and procedure/exam assistance. This includes previewing schedules to anticipate special needs of patients, equipment, and supplies

Provides verbal report of patients pertinent past history to practitioner

Performs Point of Care Testing: urine dipstick; hem occult testing

Assists in collecting and preparing specimens for laboratory testing

Epic charting includes: entering vitals and urine microanalyses (dipstick), updating medication & allergy lists, entering pended orders for lab testing (microbiology, pathology, cytology), and documents “team time outs”

Demonstrates knowledge of surgical instruments, aseptic technique, equipment use and maintenance
