Pediatrician - Health Equity for Adolescents in the Legal System (HEAL)
Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking a part-time Pediatrician for the Health Equity for Adolescents in the Legal System (HEAL) program. The role involves providing comprehensive medical care to adolescents in the legal system, ensuring safety and security while addressing their health needs.

Responsibilities
Provide medical care to ACS adolescents keeping safety and security measures paramount
Take relevant patient history, identify patient needs, and make diagnoses
Develop and implement treatment plans using diagnostic data
Perform complete well-care examinations, including physical examinations
Perform complete gynecological histories and physical examinations
Write prescriptions and inform patients about medications prescribed; garner parent/guardian consents when needed
Complete medical forms and documentation related to patient care
Make and track all referrals to other agencies and providers, with follow-up care provided
Assist with phlebotomy, as needed, to ensure smooth patient flow
Administer immunizations, as needed
Distribute, refill, discard, and discontinue medication for patients
Complete Court Orders and all other ACS mandated paperwork
Evaluate and treat ACS employees (ONLY on an emergent basis)
Provide health education on topics including, but not limited to, preventive medicine and counseling on chronic diseases, as well as parenting, prenatal, nutrition, family-planning, medication usage, and stress management
Participate in patient outreach
Participate in case conferences in which patient care is discussed
Assist the Medical Director in the development and implementation of medical protocols and medical forms
May initiate and participate in research related to health care or allied fields, in collaboration with the Medical Director
Qualification
Required
Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
Board certification in Pediatrics
Valid New York State medical license
Experience working with adolescents, particularly in a healthcare setting
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to health equity and serving diverse populations
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
Knowledge of relevant medical protocols and procedures
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
Preferred
Experience in a correctional or juvenile justice setting
Familiarity with the legal system and its impact on health care for adolescents
Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish or other languages commonly spoken in the community
Experience in public health or community health initiatives
Research experience in healthcare or related fields
