Principal Avionics Engineer
Saxon Aerospace USA is seeking a highly experienced Principal Avionics Engineer to lead design, integration, testing, and certification efforts across advanced aerospace programs. This role involves shaping avionics architectures, driving certification strategy, and influencing the next generation of aerospace systems. The Principal Avionics Engineer will also collaborate with engineering teams and authorities to build innovative, certifiable avionics solutions.
Responsibilities
Develop and review avionics system requirements, architectures, and interface documents
Create and review certification plans, qualification test plans/reports, and compliance artifacts
Support system safety analysis and apply relevant standards (ARP 4754B, ARP 4761A, DO-178, DO-254, etc.)
Lead avionics design reviews and collaborate with suppliers and certification authorities
Support SIL/HIL and flight test planning, execution, and data analysis
Select components, troubleshoot issues, and ensure designs meet airworthiness standards
Review flight test data, instrumentation requirements, and support post-test analysis
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in aerospace, Electrical, or related Engineering field
Strong knowledge of avionics systems (Comm, Nav, FMS, Displays, Antennas, Networks, etc.)
Experience with certification processes, guidance, and documentation (FARs, ACs, TSOs)
Familiarity with avionics bus protocols (A664, CAN, A429, TTE, Ethernet, etc.)
U.S. Citizenship required
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and work for extended periods
Lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally
Travel up to 25% domestically and internationally
Valid driver's license and clean driving record required
Preferred
10+ years of avionics engineering experience (preferred)
