Mortgage Default Specialist

Responsibilities
Manage a pipeline of claims, incoming monthly customer reports, exception queues, and accurately process assigned tasks
Serve as a liaison for external customers to assist them in transitioning to automated reporting solutions
Analyze incoming data files for formatting and data integrity discrepancies
Perform default servicing activities for various GSE and customer-specific loan modification and loss mitigation programs
Partner with IT staff in working through system enhancements, issues, and resolution. Ensure systems logic aligns with operational processes. Recommend enhancements as needed
Develop and maintain policy and procedure documentation for default servicing processes
Monitor and respond to incoming email inquiries and phone calls from both internal and external customers
Index, categorize, and review incoming claims documents
Review, document, and approve incoming property sale offers and loss mitigation approval requests
Review and adjust claims
Analyze and investigate defaulted loans
Review loan origination files for possible fraud and misrepresentation
Propose servicing solutions to management that will bring efficiencies to how National MI transacts business with customers for both data and document exchanges
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual servicing reconciliations and discuss trends with management
Collaborate with internal departments including Insurance Operations, Marketing, Legal and Finance on shared projects and initiatives
Provide general support to Default Servicing team and management as department projects arise and new tasks are assigned
Perform ad hoc responsibilities, as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, a related field or the equivalent work experience
Minimum of 3 years' experience in a mortgage-related business
Proficient user of Microsoft Office suite tools including MS Excel
Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and responsibilities in a dynamic environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively
Ability to research independently, make decisions, and exercise good judgment
Analyze and interpret information accurately
Complete work accurately, in a timely manner, and meet deadlines
Maintain confidentiality of information and use information appropriately
Ability to work with external customers, internal departments, and senior management
Must be detail-oriented, have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and be results–driven
Must be able to work and contribute to a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Preferred
Experience with mortgage insurance, GSE default servicing, and mortgage insurance claims preferred
