Instrument Tech - Summer Intern

TAI is a leading multidisciplinary firm providing expert engineering and technical services across various markets. The Instrument Technician Intern will support the installation, calibration, and maintenance of industrial control systems while gaining hands-on experience in ensuring the reliability of production equipment.

Responsibilities

Assist with inspection, testing, adjustment, and repair of electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems
Support calibration of instrumentation for production equipment and auxiliary measurement systems
Help test accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, and other instruments using standard test equipment
Participate in tracing and testing electronic circuitry and components under guidance
Maintain calibration standards and documentation
Assist in creating and following monthly calibration schedules
Support technical processes for calibration and instrumentation
Observe and assist with PLC/HMI troubleshooting, minor programming, and installation of instrumentation and controls
Recommend upgrades or best practices as learned
Perform other duties as assigned, with a focus on learning and skill development

Required

At least 18 years of age
Currently enrolled in an applicable trade school or college program, entering Junior or Senior year (preferred majors: power plant technology, instrumentation, electrical, industrial maintenance, industrial technology, or related fields)
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to/from job sites within MD/PA/DE/VA/NJ region
Basic understanding of electricity, mechanics, or instrumentation (coursework or lab experience)
Strong interest in technical problem-solving and hands-on work
Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
