Vegetation Management Inspector

Harris County Flood Control District is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Vegetation Management Inspector. The Inspector will be responsible for inspecting and providing quality control of the District’s drainage and channel maintenance projects, working closely with outside contractors to ensure maintenance is performed effectively.

Responsibilities

Inspect the District’s infrastructure, including channels, detention basins, and buy-out lots, for needed maintenance
Measure, calculate, and verify contract quantities completed by the contractor for payment
Maintain daily records of work performed by contractors
Complete project work orders and schedule contract work
Prepare invoice estimates for monthly contractor payments
Complete daily status reports, project reports, and contractor work schedules
Schedule and conduct meetings with contractor representatives
Prepare correspondence, complete forms, and maintain records and files
Perform other duties that may be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs

Required

Requires a high school graduate or equivalent
Requires a minimum of one-year verifiable experience in vegetation management, construction inspection, and/or landscape Installation OR five (5) years' experience in project management, business, or a similar field
Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Good verbal & written communication skills
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and/or assignments
Ability to be self-motivated
A self-starter
Ability to work in an outdoor setting
Good organizational skills

Preferred

Prefer a bachelor's degree in a natural resources field such as Agronomy, Forestry, or Horticulture
