Sr IT Architect Merchandising Systems & Processing
Prairie Consulting Services is seeking a Senior Architect with deep expertise in Retail Merchandising to lead the planning, design, and delivery of core merchandising capabilities. This role is responsible for shaping application architecture, governing architectural standards, and guiding major merchandising transformation initiatives.
Responsibilities
Lead solution and application architecture for core merchandising processes including Master Data, Integrated Planning, Retail Demand Planning, and Assortment Planning
Evaluate new systems, assess updates, plan installation/testing, and troubleshoot software issues
Ensure solutions align with enterprise standards, security requirements, and long-term business roadmaps
Manage system design across programs, ensuring adherence to architectural strategies and governance
Define and communicate strategies for enterprise data management and standard data definitions
Establish processes and data architectures that support critical merchandising functions
Assess regulatory and operational impacts on information usage and ensure compliance
Identify emerging technologies, trends, and methods that elevate merchandising capabilities
Lead IT strategy development within merchandising, shaping policies and standards
Advise on improvements and drive programs focused on business value and operational efficiency
Partner with SAP, Infrastructure, Security, and Functional teams to identify and evaluate technology solutions
Build long-term relationships with senior stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor
Present solutions to leadership and guide technical and non-technical audiences
Provide mentorship and support to cross-functional teams
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
7+ years as a Solution Architect in Retail Merchandising environments
Experience integrating merchandising platforms with ERP systems such as S/4
Hands-on architecture experience with platforms such as o9 or Blue Yonder
At least two full-cycle implementations across Demand Planning, Assortment Planning, and Integrated Planning
Strong understanding of merchandising domains including Master Data, Inventory Optimization, Pricing, Fulfillment, and Supply Planning
Proven experience in project estimation, planning, vendor evaluations, and solution presentations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with deep knowledge of SDLC
