Structural Engineer 7-Bridges

Responsibilities
Lead teams to provide structural analyses, design, and final bridge construction plans for prestressed concrete, reinforced concrete, and structural steel bridges according to the latest TDOT and AASHTO design criteria
Lead teams to provide bridge inspection, structural analysis, and final bridge repair plans and Bridge Load Ratings in accordance with TDOT and AASHTO design specifications
Direct the development of models, drawings, and specifications
Able to arrange/layout structural systems and elements for strength, stability, constructability, and construction economy
Review design calculations and quantity calculations for compliance with TDOT design criteria
Coordinate bridge design with other engineering disciplines
Ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs
Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs)
Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices
Meet with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs
Attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff
Collaborate with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions and provide updates to project management as necessary
Perform other duties as required
Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff
Mentor more junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm
Supervise the work of junior engineers on project work
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering or related discipline
Professional engineering (PE) license
12 years of related experience
Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices
Expert Knowledge of engineer principles of design
Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.)
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations
Ability to arrange/layout structural systems and elements for strength, stability, constructability, and construction economy
Expert knowledge of engineering analysis/design software (AASHTOWare BrR, Bentley Openbridge Designer, FEM Software)
Preferred
Master's degree in Civil Engineering/Structural
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Tennessee
