Motor Control Firmware Intern (Summer 2026)

As a Motor Control Firmware Intern, you will work on safety-critical firmware for motor controllers and take on urgent requests while managing a long-term project related to the reliability of aircraft operations.

Responsibilities

Own the resolution of some of the urgent late breaking requests made to our team
Drive late breaking requests that mitigate newly discovered deficiencies in hardware or processes
Own a larger internship long project critical to the motor controllers functioning in a reliable, safe, or predictable way
Learn about the control stack, differential equations that guide motors’ operation, and motor physics
See your solutions all the way through design, simulation, bench testing, flight testing, and fleet level analysis as needed

Required

Is passionate about learning about motor control firmware, Zipline's aircraft and systems, and our mission
Has prior internship or design team experience
Is fluent in writing C or C++
Has a good understanding of physics fundamentals
