Responsibilities
Prepare fiber optic cables for splicing by stripping, cleaning, cleaving, and organizing fibers according to industry standards
Conduct comprehensive optical testing using OTDRs (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers) and other testing equipment to verify splice quality, cable continuity, and network performance
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all splicing activities, test results, and network configurations
Collaborate with network engineers and technicians to diagnose and resolve issues related to fiber optic connectivity, signal loss, or other network anomalies
Respond to emergency situations promptly, working efficiently to repair and restore damaged fiber optic cables and network infrastructure
Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards while working with fiber optic cables and equipment
Properly maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot splicing equipment and tools
Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in fiber optic technology, and best practices in splicing techniques
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications preferred
Proven experience in fiber optic splicing and network installation, with a deep understanding of fiber types, connectors, and cable structures
Proficiency in using fusion splicing machines, cleavers, OTDRs, and other related tools
Strong knowledge of industry standards and best practices in fiber optic network installation, maintenance, and testing
Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity for precise cable preparation and splicing
Ability to interpret and generate technical documentation, including splice logs, test reports, and network diagrams
Effective problem-solving skills to diagnose and troubleshoot network issues
Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders
