Specimen Control and Receiving Tech – Support Services
UW Health is a leading healthcare provider in Wisconsin, and they are seeking a Specimen Control and Receiving Tech to support laboratory operations. The role involves receiving specimens, ensuring correct labeling, and performing basic instrument maintenance while interacting with various healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities
Receive specimens and research kits into the laboratory, check for correct labeling, enter tests into Laboratory Information System, process specimens, and load them onto instruments or direct to appropriate work station, technologist, or storage area
Basic instrument maintenance (temperatures, monitoring reagents) and clerical duties (filing, mailing, faxing)
Interact daily with pathologists, physicians, technologists, clinical staff, nursing unit personnel, and patients
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
6 months experience in lab, healthcare, customer service or data entry role
Preferred
Some post-secondary education in a healthcare or a related science field that may include course work in Medical Laboratory Technician, Cytotechnologist, Histotechnician or Medical Laboratory Scientist degree/certification
1 year healthcare or lab related work experience
Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) certification (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent
