Responsibilities

Set up and configure z/OS, subsystems (JES, CICS), and related software/hardware

Apply PTFs (Program Temporary Fixes), service packs, and perform system upgrades (RSU maintenance)

Monitor, analyze, and tune system parameters for optimal performance, throughput, and resource utilization

Diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex software and hardware issues (Tier 2/3 support)

Implement security policies, manage privileges, and automate operations using tools like REXX

Plan and execute disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity procedures

Monitor system capacity and plan for future growth

Work with vendors to evaluate, implement, and support new products

Create technical documentation and support other teams (operators, application developers)

Expertise in performing SMP/E and Non-SMPE Installation of ISV products

Expertise in IBM and Broadcom Software product installation and Upgrades

Mastery of z/OS system commands, utilities, and automation tools

Operating system z/OS V2.5 upgrades or later with z/OSMF workflow execution

IODF, HCD Skillset to add new devices

Fluent in JCL and IBM Utilities (IEBGENER/IEBCOPY/AMASPZAP/DFDSS)

ISPF/TSO and other basics

Basic knowledge of REXX/CLIST

Designing a project plan (upgrades, maintenance, decom) with a task list for all stakeholders and communicating the timelines with the delivery and customer

Formulate roadmaps with all prerequisites to achieve project completion

Preferred

Sysplex and config management (good to have)
