Associate Director Substance Use Intervention and Recovery Services
Texas Christian University (TCU) is seeking an Associate Director of Substance Use Intervention and Recovery Services to provide administrative oversight and clinical supervision for comprehensive substance use intervention and recovery programs. This role includes supervising counselors, managing budgets, and expanding peer support programs while conducting counseling services and assessments for students.

Responsibilities
Establishes and implements goals, objectives, policies, utilization review, and operating procedures for intervention and recovery programs by administering quality assurance processes to maintain excellent customer service and alignment with research regarding alcohol and other drugs (AOD) among TCU students
Provides supervision for a clinical team consisting of Substance Use & Recovery Counselors and Graduate Practicum Students to provide counseling services for students seeking help with substance abuse issues. Serve as a direct report for Graduate Assistants within the department of Student Affairs to facilitate substance use assessments for students who violated the TCU Student Code of Conduct
Supports and facilitates the TCU Collegiate Recovery Program as well as support groups for students in recovery from substance use and/or have been affected by the substance use of others
Provides vision and administrative oversight to expand the center’s peer support programs and act as the liaison for the counseling center staff who support a peer support community on campus
Conducts counseling services and individual alcohol and drug assessments with students. Maintains confidential student files and relevant records. Provides referrals to agencies and practitioners, internal and external to TCU, including but not limited to the Health Center, Counseling Center, Office of Religious & Spiritual Life, Wellness Programming, Community resources, private and public health clinics and/or hospitals as appropriate within legal and ethical guidelines for coordination of services. Conducts presentations and workshops on issues related stigma reduction and substance use interventions & recovery
Manages a dedicated budget for substance use and recovery programs by administering and overseeing expenditures and revenues related to department budget. Research, develop and submit grants to support office operations and programming incentives. Complete regular program evaluation reports
Fundraises and manages a budget of external funds such as donations and grants to support the use of peer support programs on campus
Supervises and evaluates personnel by recruiting, training, and evaluating professional and student staff
Serves on various university committees and assists with additional Student Affairs programs as desired and appropriate
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops/conferences, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in counseling, social work, student personnel administration or related field
3 years of experience in facilitating substance use and recovery counseling and support groups (particularly in collegiate recovery)
3 years of experience in supervision of graduate trainees in counseling, clinical psychology, or a related field
Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, in Texas
Knowledge of strong attending, listening, and crisis-intervention skills
Knowledge of college student development and counseling theories
Knowledge of current alcohol and other drug, health, mental health, and social issues on university campuses
Knowledge, sensitivity, and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing and BASICS techniques
Skill in interpersonal, oral, and written communication
Skill in organization
Skill in Microsoft Office programs
Skill in computer literacy, web applications in particular
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to make practical application of current health promotion theories, methods, strategies, and tactics
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and to collaborate with other departments
Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information
Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication
Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions
Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting
Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs
Preferred
Experience working in a clinical setting for substance use and recovery, particularly with a college student population
Experience with making referrals and collaborating with rehabilitation facilities for alcohol and drug abuse
Licensed Professional Counselor eligible in Texas
Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS)
