Hudson Valley Credit Union is currently recruiting for a Commercial Workout Manager. The primary function of this role is to manage and optimize HVCU’s commercial lending portfolio by developing and implementing effective workout strategies for commercial loans and mortgages.

Responsibilities

Oversee a portfolio of criticized/classified small business, SBA, participation, and commercial loans, ensuring effective resolution and performance tracking

Lead workout strategies for distressed commercial loans, including restructuring, repayment plans, and asset liquidation to mitigate risk and maximize recovery

Conduct in-depth financial reviews of borrowers and guarantors, assess repayment capacity, and prepare thorough credit presentations aligned with HVCU standards

Perform detailed underwriting and present workout proposals and renewals, including full documentation of borrower financials and collateral

Negotiate repayment agreements with borrowers and work closely with legal counsel to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policies

Collaborate with the finance team to evaluate criticized and classified assets rated 6 or worse, supporting impairment analysis and determining specific reserve requirements

Collaborate with internal teams and external professionals (e.g., appraisers, brokers, consultants) to support loan recovery and optimize collateral value

Prepare monthly watch list reports, lead portfolio review meetings, and provide impairment analyses to support reserve adequacy and risk management

Ensure adherence to state and federal regulations and internal guidelines while staying informed on market trends and regulatory developments impacting commercial lending

Adhere to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements. Participate in all required and recommended training and development including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act training (BSA) and demonstrate attained knowledge. Participate on Credit Union teams, projects and strategic initiatives when the opportunity arises. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned

Required

Minimum 5 years experience with Commercial credit (underwriting, credit risk management, workout) is required

Minimum 2 years direct commercial lending experience required

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree at least 2 years equivalent experience for each undergraduate year not completed; undergraduate degree cannot substitute for minimum number of years of experience is preferred

SBA loan workout experience preferred
