Assistant Vice President, Environmental Planning

WSP is a leader in environmental planning and is currently seeking an Assistant Vice President for their Southern California geography. This strategic role focuses on growing market share, managing client relationships, and fostering a collaborative work environment while optimizing operational excellence and expertise in environmental services.

Responsibilities

Grows our market share to fulfill our goal that WSP become the preferred, trusted advisor to our clients
Manages local client coordination and supports cross-selling efforts in coordination with Local and Regional leadership and Pursuit Management
Attends civic and industry events, conferences, and forums such as AEP, APA, WTS, and the Chamber of Commerce
Brings an expanded view and integrated response to complex challenges by leveraging our full suite of offerings across all end markets
With Business Line Leaders support, utilizes our extended reach of technical and subject matter experts (SMEs) across regions, districts, offices and the globe to foster new and innovative client delivery
Fosters a work environment that is collaborative, values inclusion and diversity and invites broad, creative thinking – crafting a more attractive place to work, grow and thrive
Emphasizes employee training and development to create a unique work experience
Inspires, motivates and promotes the best of WSP to our clients and communities to ensure strong employee engagement and morale
Supports programs such as Safety, Sustainability and Ethics & Compliance
Optimizes the client and employee experience through regular reviews while embracing process improvement
Focuses on innovation and collaboration with a focus on maintaining and improving quality
In collaboration with Business Line Leaders, develops local growth, forecast and business development strategy
Resolves conflict and other internal/external issues that may arise between staff, amongst WSP’s client base, or on projects
Coordinate with leads and specialists in other business lines and regions (particularly Transportation & Infrastructure) to engage in projects and pursuits and leverage a broader based of staff support
Collaborates with Local Business Lead and other area leaders to strategically drive the business, assess and suggest improvements for project performance, oversee overhead expenditures, and focus on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Sales, Funding, EBITDA, Staff Hiring and Retention, DSO, Utilization, Backlog, Inclusion & Diversity and Guiding Principles
Leverages our broad technical experience to enhance current and new service offerings
Fosters the development of new and emerging innovations to remain the trusted thought leaders in our industry
Advances the strategic direction of the region in the location of responsibility for sustained and continued growth consistent within the context of the strategic plan
Encourages, supports and promotes the technical and professional development of local WSP staff
Track changes in federal environmental law and policy in coordination with specialists and evaluate implications for projects, pursuits and staffing

Required

Minimum of 10 years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Environmental Science, Public Policy, or related discipline, or equivalent experience in the A/E/C industry with a focus on infrastructure projects
Experience with professional environmental services as a consultant or client, developing scopes of work, directing work, issuing or responding to RFP or RFQs
Demonstrated experience of leadership, personal accountability, persistence, and growth
Ability to innovate and re-think the conventional approach to client and employee engagement
Strong business acumen
Sound decision-making, strategic and visionary thinking, and creative business development capabilities
Strongly established relevant client relationships and industry contacts in the local area, including ability to lead pursuits and proposals
Commitment to internal and external client service
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Master's Degree is preferred
