Stationary Engineer III

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is seeking a Stationary Engineer III to ensure adequate HVAC and maintain mechanical equipment for the museum's physical plant. The role involves reviewing equipment logs, supervising contractors, and assisting with exhibition installations.

Responsibilities

Provides adequate HVAC (heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing) for museum physical plant
Maintains mechanical equipment for museum physical plant and other properties
Reviews daily equipment logs for accuracy
Reviews meter readings for accuracy
Maintains museum vehicles, grounds, and other special projects
Completes assigned work orders in a timely fashion
Escorts E&F contractors to work sites on MFAH properties and supervises work
Works on installation and de-installation of exhibitions with Curatorial, Preparations, Lighting, and Electrical
Installs and de-installs banners for exhibitions
Assists in the installation and de-installation of the Retail shop for rotating exhibitions
Sets up and breaks down tables, chairs, and other equipment for events
Operates various aerial lifts (20ft to 85ft) and fork lifts to complete tasks
Drives cargo van, box truck, and pickup truck to and from work sites
As part of the essential staff- protects museum properties during natural disasters (hurricanes, floods, ice storms, etc.)
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Working knowledge of A/C, heating, steam boilers, chillers, air handling units, electrical, plumbing, and auxiliary equipment
Able to read building prints
Willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime
Able to respond to emergency calls when off duty
Able to lift 75 lbs. or more and able perform a variety of physical tasks, including lifting heavy equipment, bending and stooping
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate and interact with Museum employees, outside contractors, and the general public
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to focus on details; effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks
Must have a valid Texas driver license and good driving record
Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Possess a City of Houston 1st, 2nd or 3rd Grade Stationary Engineer's License
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum two years of experience in a similar capacity in a similar size and type facility

Preferred

Experience with METASYS system a plus
