Harris County is seeking an experienced civil attorney for the Holistic Services Division of the Public Defender’s Office. The attorney will handle various civil legal issues, aiming to address the collateral consequences in clients' lives that may lead them into the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities

Handle cases including civil protective order defense, adult and juvenile record-sealing, asset forfeiture cases, administrative license revocations, mitigation investigations, parole revocation, and other miscellaneous civil legal issues
Collaborate with clients’ criminal trial attorneys
Participate in community record-sealing clinics

Qualification

Juris DoctorateLicensed to practice lawCivil legal experienceCriminal defense experienceBilingual (English/Spanish)

Required

A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
Licensed to practice law in Texas

Preferred

Bilingual (English/Spanish)
